The Last Surrealist Kingdom
About The Book
Journey to The Last Surrealist Kingdom, where nothing is impossible.
Ecuadorian artist Beto Val began his journey there almost by accident. One day, while working from his small studio in Quito, he came across a vast digitised collection of vintage illustrations. He began to experiment, deconstruct and recombine them, creating new characters and objects.
The result of this creative game is The Last Surrealist Kingdom: a unique tribute to the surrealist movement which brings together Beto Val's most prominent work of recent years.
Featuring more than 150 images, the book immerses the reader in an imaginary world populated by extraordinary beings, surreal flora and fauna, and improbable constructions. From Gods and Aquatic Creatures to Amazing Machines and Savage Aristocracy, every page is packed with glorious inventiveness.
The Last Surrealist Kingdom is more than an aesthetic experience: it is an invitation to explore the limits of the imagination, where dreams merge with reality.
